Outfit of the Day: Let's go to the mall.
As the title suggests, I wore this today to Westfield Stratford. It wasn't too cold in London today (hoo-to-the-frickin'-ray). I kept toasty in my new tights from the ASOS sale and generally picked the rest of the outfit based on easiness to get in and out of or try on things over. I snagged two items from H&M (that I'll probably show you soon) for under £13 in total, awww yisssss.
Wilma Jacket in Cult Wine // Monki
Astrology Scarf // Madewell
Jean Shorts // H&M
Gipsy Melange Tights in Biscuit // ASOS
London Print Backpack // Target {x}

Thursday Takeaway.
I went to sleep yesterday fantasizing about vegetable curry so when 11am rolled around today I was already hovering on just-eat. I fantasize about food a lot...
Anyway, when I announced to the flat (anyone "announcing" anything in this flat usually consists of one of us shouting from our bed with the expectation that everyone else's room door will be open to hear) I was getting curry takeaway for lunch, Rosi skidded into my room with laptop in tow. Takeaway is always more fun when it's an event.
Our food was so good probably because we got the first cook of the day, but it was all seriously delicious. My mango lassi hilariously came in the same takeaway metal container as a food dish would. Which was a little disorienting at first. But with my home-cooked (free!) rice, I was swimming in spicy bliss with saag paneer and Bombay potatoes.
Also Sanne came in [begging for a bite as usual]. A postcard she had sent to me while she was in the Netherlands last month (pictured above) arrived while Rosi and I were chowing down under the duvet.

River Island Paris perfume.
So I finally ran out of my beloved Zara Black perfume. It was the first thing I bought when I arrived in London for my study abroad semester in 2011. I loved that scent, and I still do, but I wanted to try something new.
I first got a whiff of Paris when I was idling around a River Island near Bond Street, waiting for my sister to get to the tills. It made such an impression on me that four months later I was hunting it down again. I usually go for spicy-sweet scents--if I could roll around in ground cinnamon and walk out the door, I'd do it. Paris is a more mature fragrance than what I usually go for. Just in that it's a little less sweet and a little more powdery. But the spice in still in there. With the packaging and the price, I was sold.

BEDA catchall.
So I'm not sure if you've noticed, but there have been a lot of posts here on the old blog lately. Flipping back through, one might even notice they've been, oh, every day. I didn't want to announce that I was doing Blog Every Day in April because I understand that some are turned off by it (I can be), and I felt it also would have put extra pressure on me. Not that there haven't been nights where I'm scrambling around at 11pm trying to get something together.
But I'm halfway through and have been doing pretty well. Thanks mostly to my photo backlog.
Today's kind of a weird amalgam of bits.
For example, this morning I was telling my flatmate Rosi about the dream I'd had last night and how it involved bloodthirsty sharks. Which reminded me of all those B-movie / straight to DVD or television films about sharks escaping inside submarines I watched on cable when I was a kid. Which brought me to this. And I was tempted to make a blog series of myself going through all these terrible movies as a film student. Still haven't completely written off this idea...
And the starting photo? I took it before I toted my poor little iHome to the electronics recycling bin. I could never get it to work again no matter what cord or converter I used. Rest in peace, my darling. I'm convinced your sound quality was better than the replacement I got from John Lewis.

The one that got away: Mary Jane.
Okay, I need to you listen to this while you're reading this post. No seriously. Do it. Have you pressed play? Come on. Yes? Alright, good, you may continue.
I like this post title. Not only do I manage to get in a Katy Perry lyric, but it also sounds like I'm somehow referencing marijuana.
No, but the real order of business here is that--well, let me just walk you through it. It's 2am. I'm trying to get myself to edit a video. So I'm trying to exhaust all interest that the internet might hold (an impossible endeavor) so I will have no choice but to edit. I'm watching Jenn's videos and on one of her outfits I am struck. I am kicked if you will. Shoes. The shoes. I need those shoes.
So I spend a stupid amount of time scouring the internet for what I learn are Sole La Vie strapped pumps. Convincing myself they hold everything in life I could ever want in a dress shoe, maybe even bring me good fortune--who the hell knows. At this point I was crazed. They were perfect: closed/ round toe, chunky walkable heel, ankle strap of glory. And it's sold out. Sold out everywhere never to return my heart breaks I will never find another as perfect to me as you, Sole La Vie As If! Strapped Pumps.
This happens to me with clothing items from time to time. I'll search for them obsessively online even though I know they're long gone. I can't be the only one that does this though. I'd be curious to know what your long lost item(s) is.

Pin curls.
Hottie alert.
Shake it out.
I don't remember how I came across it, but watching this video really made me want to try pin curls. It's heatless which is healthier for my shot-to-hell hair. And I get to feel like a fifties lady sleeping with a scarf on my head.
Because I am lazy, mildly incompetent when it comes to styling hair, and Sanne is eager, I asked her to do the pins with this video as a guide. She also took these pictures the morning after I slept in it and took them out. Thanks, Sanneeee.

Tiny blog sale.
Hey you. Checking out one of my new favorite blogs had me itching to make room in my wardrobe. Get rid of the things I was not wearing, what was too worn out, or didn't suit me anymore. I only managed to get rid of five pieces. I guess I didn't realise how few clothes I have here in London. These two items are in very good condition, mostly because I've hardly worn them. I thought as an incentive, I'd enclose a little note about the clothing item to whoever buys it. Because both pieces actually have interesting stories behing them.

Some notes on moviegoing.
In my university course (film studies), we talk a lot about the idea of the death of cinema, the struggles and changes within the industry--an industry that makes so much money while simultaneously loses a shit ton regularly. Going to the movies isn't a regular pastime for many people anymore. I know one reason myself, and most others, don't often go is because it's expensive. Sanne and I went specifically today because it's cheap ticket Tuesday at Vue cinemas in London. Cinemas in the US and UK are shutting their doors all the time. And it's not surprising because how many times have you walked into your screening to find it almost completely empty?
But going to see The Host tonight reminded me how much I really enjoy going to the movies. Sneaking in snacks in your purse. The weird patterned carpets in the corridors. Bad bad bad trailers. And the screen size--there is something magical about experiencing a movie that way. Maybe it's because I don't get to go often. it's become this treat on a pedestal for me.
What's the last movie you saw in theatres? Do you go often? I am definitely guilty of the it's-way-more-convenient-for-me-to-laze-in-bed-and-watch-something-on-LoveFilm.
