August NL07: Leiden Tour.

Adorable bakery that I thought was Parisian.  Nope.  Wasn't.

But they introduced me to my first gevulde koek, the best Dutch cookie.

August NL06: The Moses Bridge.

This was one of our designated adventure days.  Sanne had seen a tumblr post on this thing called the Moses Bridge, which we found, after a train and a bus or two, was in Middle-of-Fucking-Nowhere, The Netherlands.  Sometimes also called Bergen op Zoom / Fort de Roovere.  Oh, Dutch.  You so silly with your zooooooms and your root beer fortifications.

Anyway, the bridge and its environment were beautiful albeit sweltering hot in August.  Said blistering temperature I wouldn't mind five minutes of in the current dead of February.  One of Sanne's videos had some footage of us there, and there's that final Netherlands color video that I never put up...

August NL05: Leiden and a FotD.

Listening to this while putting this together so I feel like it should be the soundtrack whilst you read/scroll.

For some reason I got it in my head that morning to take a picture of what makeup I used. Blinc mascara.  Revlon Matte lipstick in 005 Strawberry. Lancôme Star bronzer in 02 Solaire. Elf eyeshadow C brush. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On eye pencil in El Dorado. Barry M Kohl pencil in Bronze. Make Up Forever eyeshadow in 10 Yellow Gold.

Bagels and Beans is hands down the best chain in the Netherlands.  If you ever visit Amsterdam, or any other part of the country, go to one of these.  They're dotted around the larger cities, some even have multiple locations.  Each interior is unique and adorable, the people that work there typically young and nice.  Oh, and everything on the menu is FUCKING DELICIOUS.

This is the tomato bagel with avocado, tomato, and lettuce plus pesto and sun-dried tomato cream cheese.  I also highly recommend their hot chocolate.  They bring you a glass of piping hot milk that you mix a tiny dish of chocolate chips into.  Hnnnnnnnng.

Despite biking to Leiden (and not dying), I only ate half.  Here's me posing on the shopping street with my to-go box.

Sanne got a bag of chocolate chips to give to Lex as a present.  The same chips they use to mix into the hot chocolate.  Of course you can eat them straight.  It don't matter!

The camera is balanced on a rubbish bin in these last two.

Some of these pictures weave well into this video.

August NL04: Patat en Austen.

Welcome back to the realm of summer-pictures-from-the-Netherlands.  As it is February, I was debating whether or not to just move these into the archives on my laptop rather than drag out irrelevant snapshots.  But then my blog really has become my personal photo album.  So here we ago again.  It wouldn't be a marionhoney blog post if I wasn't posting holiday/travel photos from six months ago.

My records tell me that this was my second day in the Netherlands.  My memory tells me that I quasi-successfully cycled into town with Sanne where we picked up the deliciousness that is patat(s?) for dinner.  This was also the day that Sanne brought mayonaise and apple sauce with fries to my attention.  I was weirded out by the concept at first, especially regarding the latter condiment.  But I've been hooked since this fateful evening.

So here we have Dutch fries, a lovely fresh salad, a kaas soufflé (fried cheese soufflé I MISS YOU), and some rosé.  Then dessert, a personal plate of Dutch cookies and some strawberries.  All enjoyed in Sanne's living room while watching (for the first time for me) Lost In Austen.  The.  Life.

Maintenance.

Howdy, y'all.  So I spent the better part of two hours this afternoon doing some sprucing up of the old blog here.  Mostly it included updating some of the sidebar "currently" sections, but also extensively revamping the Screened page, which you can navigate to at the top or just click here.  It is completely up to date with all the films I have watched since 2013.  Yes, that's not a typo.  Sometimes I watch two films a day.  Also since I'm studying film at university, films are often screened after lectures.  Still, I've been watching films at a personally unprecedented rate.

Anyway, I thought that if you were looking for something to watch, you might get some ideas from there.  Clicking on them should link you to the IMDB page.  And I encourage you to check your library, Netflix/LoveFilm, or your friends' collections before throwing it in Google for a streaming link. Just something I'm trying to be more conscious of.

And what you're looking at here?  Well it's my room the day I moved into the flat.  This was the first trip of bringing items from my sublet to the flat.  And the yellow walls.  Oh the awful yellow walls that plagued the entire flat when we arrived.  Immortalized in these photos.  A room tour is on my to-make video list, so this'll serve as my "before" marker.
