The Fault in Our Stars, UK Tour.

Swindon, 2 February 2013.

Early morning train adventure with Casa Kamasaro.  John Green being the boss that he is (also hi Hank).  A day of DSLRs.  Seriously.  Everybody and their cousin brought their DSLRs that day.  And then friends.  Friends.  And purple chairs.

LUSH Brazened Honey.

Brazened Honey // LUSH £5.95

LUSH or Lush.  Do I shout or whisper?  Whatever, this brand still holds some mysticism for me.  Even though I've been living in London on and off for almost a year and a half and Lushs are kind of like Starbucks or McDonalds (on every dang street corner it seems sometimes), it's still this very magical, affordable, quirky UK brand that was denied to me when all my favorite beauty v/bloggers were talking it up.  Of course, they've now put one in Indianapolis, but I think the Los Angeles diaspora is still pretty pathetic.

This is the second Fresh Face Mask I've tried (my maiden voyage with Oatfix is available on Blu-ray and demand) and I really like it.  It was actually brought to my attention in the comments of derpinaMODE.  Shout out to Courtney!

Brazened Honey is, as demonstrated by my face, very green.  If you're ever trying to recreate that scene in that movie where the teenage girl has just put on her night cream when the doorbells rings.  She shuffles downstairs, grumbling about staffing the butler 24 hours, opens the front door, and finds her hunky dreamboy crush standing on her front porch.  Quick push-in on protagonist decked out in expression of mortification.  Yes, this mask can achieve all this for you...

But there's more!  Some notes on the experience: it dries in different colored green patches (flattering!),  I could feel my skin tightening as it dried, and eventually couldn't really move my face without "snowfall"--little dusty bits raining everywhere.  But what face mask is pretty?

Verdict:  Like.  It exfoliates and clarifies my combination/oily skin leaving it brighter and soft to the touch.  And at £6 with about ten uses per pot, I can definitely see myself repurchasing it... after I've tried all the other fresh face masks ;]

Do you prefer another Lush face mask?  Or one from a different brand?  Leave a persuasive pitch in your comment.

February in June.

So first things first, hi!  Long time no blog, right?  And with that lovely introduction, I'm just here to say you've just looked at some photos from February.  I dragged Sanne out to Westminster in snow flurries to be my photog.  I wanted to have a nice portrait to send to my grandmother for her birthday.  These were some outtakes, as well as when I turned the camera around on Sanne.

More outdated pictures to follow.

She made it in America.

I'm writing this in between responding to comments on my newest derpinamode video.  I dressed up a couple weeks back to see Gatsby, and Sanne and Rosianna make a little cameo.

Also I'm back in America.  Don't freak out.  Not for long.  I'm here for a little less than three weeks to visit my family and see some friends in LA.  Right now I'm in my mom's house in Indiana.  Where I didn't grow up.  She moved into this place after I was already at uni.  So "my bedroom" here feels weird.  More of a guest room, you know.  But I also didn't live in Indiana for more than three years.  So I've never really had that childhood bedroom thing.

But yeah, I'm going to try to blog my time in the US.  Because I haven't been here since August.  And things do feel... foreign.  I'm sort of mentally trapped between two cultures and which one should be normal.  For example, all the rooms in my mom's house--they feel gigantic.  I mean, they are pretty fucking big even by normal standards.  And my flat in London is a decent size.  But it's just like... the hallways here are larger.  I described it to a friend as emptiness, but not necessarily in a negative way.

I'm fighting the jetlag pretty well.  I stayed up all of Sunday night so I would sleep on my Monday flight.  Which proved to be... kind of stupid.  I mostly just felt ruddy cheeked and woozy from sleep deprivation.  But I got to order my first alcoholic beverage on the flight!  To put me to sleep.  Also, another thing--this is the first I've been in the US as a 21 year old.  Yeahhhhh, margs with mammy.

I would also like to highly recommend requesting the vegan meal if you are flying Delta.  Because it was fucking delicious.  Some kind of tofu curry with rice and tomato and oh my god.  What's the deal with me enjoying airplane food.

American things consumed:  Izze soda, Pepperidge Farm soft cookies.
